Christopher Stril
Christophe is a law student at the Université de Montréal. Born in Mexico City, Christophe grew up in Montreal, in the Notre-Dame-de-Grace neighbourhood. After attending Collège International Marie de France, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University. Fascinated by human behaviour and the study of the different forces acting on the individual, he was first tempted by a career in psychology before reorienting himself and starting law studies at the Université de Montréal.
During his bachelor’s degree, Christophe did an internship at the
Mile End Legal Clinic
, now
Le Collectif Juridique
. He worked mainly on housing law, family law, immigration law and general civil law. In addition to making an invaluable contribution to his training, this experience will make him aware of the imperative need to improve access to justice and to allocate even a portion of his practice to social causes.
Passionate about criminal and penal law, he joined the Belton Lawyers team in the summer of 2023 as a law student. He had the privilege of working on various mandates, in criminal and penal law (first instance and appeal) as well as in immigration law, disciplinary law and civil law. Most recently, he contributed to the Université de Montréal’s victory in the 2024 edition of the Sopinka Competition, a Canada-wide criminal moot court competition, by winning the individual prize for best advocacy.
It should be noted that his passion for criminal law is matched only by his love for soccer and tacos al pastor!
