Audrey Gilbert

Audrey Gilbert is a law student at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Montréal. Before starting her legal studies, she completed a bachelor’s degree in international relations and international law at the Université du Québec à Montréal, obtained in the spring of 2024. Originally from Haiti, Audrey is passionate about international legal systems, human rights advocacy, and social issues that influence access to justice.

Throughout her career, she has distinguished herself through sustained academic and community involvement. In particular, she participated in the UQAM International Human Rights Clinic (CIDDUH), as part of the Universal Periodic Review presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council. This experience allowed him to become concretely familiar with the mechanisms for the protection of fundamental rights, while refining his reflections on their implementation.

Audrey is also very active in community life. She was vice-president of the first years of the Black Law Students’ Association of the Université de Montréal (AEND UdeM) for the year 2024-2025, and will continue her involvement as vice-president of sponsorships in 2025-2026. In addition, she has been appointed as the National Civil Law Chapter Representative for the Black Law Students’ Association of Canada (BLSA Canada) for the 2025-2026 term.

While she has a keen interest in criminal law, Audrey is also interested in business law, particularly in its transactional aspects, related to intellectual property and data management.

Fun fact: she learned to tie her shoelaces quite late in life — around 18 or 19 years old! But rest assured, she has now mastered this skill to perfection.
